Prevention - the role of prevention techniques (e.g., the examination of public and private policies designed to change social norms concerning ATOD) and targeted education programming.

Treatment - a variety of interventions have been developed to reduce serious ATOD problems. Despite the proliferation of treatment interventions, their efficacy is largely untested.
